Beast of Reincarnation Map — Every Zone & Key Landmark

Beast of Reincarnation's map is big, and the game does very little to help you navigate it — no HUD markers, no quest log pointers, just landmarks and your memory. This guide maps out all 12 zones in order, the landmarks that matter (Dragon Vein Shrines, campsites, Keeper Golems), and the navigation tricks that stop you getting lost.

Here's what you'll learn:

  • The full zone order (Prologue → Chapter 12 → Epilogue)
  • The landmarks that matter and what they do
  • How fast travel actually works
  • Where the key locations sit (Nushi's Lair, Subcity 03)
  • Navigation tips for the big zones

How the Map Is Structured

Beast of Reincarnation's world is a sequence of 12 zones plus a Prologue and Epilogue, each a named area with its own geography:

Chapter Zone Notes
Prologue Tutorial area Teaches the basics
1 Ogouchi Buffer Zone The biggest early zone; keys + Nushi's Lair
2 Ancient Civilization Zone Ruins, verticality
3 The Great Wall Terraces Terraced walls, long sightlines
4 Pilgrim's Zone Dense enemy placement
5 Matsukawa Zone River terrain
6 Fuji Frontier Zone The mountain showpiece
7 Giant Tree Zone Vertical climbing
8 Crater Zone Volcanic visuals
9 Inukami River Zone Short, dense
10 Starfall Tower Tower platforming
11 Mount Hiei Zone Short gauntlet
12 The Capital Final zone → Epilogue

The game references zones by name in quests and observer reports. Knowing "I'm in Matsukawa" tells you what level of content to expect — the difficulty climbs steadily zone to zone.

Landmarks That Matter

Three landmark types are worth actively hunting on every map:

  • Dragon Vein Shrines — contribute to your Stimpack (healing) progression; activate every one you find
  • Campsites — expand the fast-travel network; the more you activate, the less backtracking you'll do
  • Keeper Golems — optional challenge encounters that reward upgrades; RPS's Chapter One guide recommends finding them before tough Nushi fights for "a fighting chance"
Shrines and campsites are the anti-frustration system

Skipping them is the #1 reason players feel the game is unfair. The difficulty curve assumes you've been activating both — heal capacity and fast travel are the two systems that keep the map manageable.

How Fast Travel Works

Fast travel in Beast of Reincarnation runs through campsites:

  • Activate a campsite and it joins your fast-travel network
  • Travel between activated campsites at any time from the map (or from another campsite)
  • Early game has no fast travel — the network builds as you explore, which is why activating every campsite you pass matters
Shrines aren't fast travel

Dragon Vein Shrines are healing progression, not travel points — don't confuse the two. If you're stuck somewhere and can't warp out, you've missed campsites, not shrines.

Key Locations on the Map

A few locations anchor the early game:

  • Nushi's Lair (Chapter 1) — requires the Red, Blue and Yellow keys, all found in the Ogouchi Buffer Zone
  • Subcity 03 — the story destination after the region's Nushi fight; the "Head to Subcity 03" objective drives Chapter 1's back half
  • The Cleanse Walker — the moving base; its position shifts, and the Disposal Site strongbox sits just northeast of it

  • Use landmarks, not the compass — the game has no compass; the mountain, the tree and the lighthouse-like structures are your orientation
  • Clear zones in a loop — enter, sweep the perimeter for shrines/campsites, then work inward; backtracking is the time-killer
  • Mark mental "off-route" paths — routes that look deliberately placed away from the main objective hide blades, recipes and lore
  • Return to the Walker between zones — research, equipment and cooking all live there; a full upgrade pass makes the next zone far smoother

What Each Zone Expects From You

The zones differ in more than scenery — each one teaches or demands a different skill:

  • Ogouchi Buffer Zone — the sprawl: keys, the Nushi's Lair, and the lesson that exploration is mandatory
  • Ancient Civilization & Great Wall Terraces — verticality: cliffs and terraces reward players who read elevation
  • Pilgrim's & Matsukawa — density: enemy placements force route planning
  • Fuji Frontier & Giant Tree — spectacle and shrine density: the best zones for collectible-hunting
  • Crater & Inukami River — pressure: tougher enemies, tighter corridors
  • Starfall Tower, Mount Hiei, The Capital — gauntlet: mostly linear, no room for missed campsites
Adapt your sweep pattern per zone

In sprawling zones, loop the perimeter first. In vertical zones, climb before you comb the ground — shrines and campsites sit at both extremes.

When You Get Lost (It Happens)

The game gives you no compass, so getting turned around is normal. The recovery kit:

  • Climb to a high point — the Giant Tree, Starfall Tower and mountain silhouettes are your orientation anchors
  • Follow water — rivers and coastlines in several zones (Matsukawa, Inukami) lead back to recognizable ground
  • Return to the last campsite — fast travel resets your frame; re-approach from a known point
  • Use the Walker's position — your moving base is a reference point, even as it shifts
